You do not need to subscribe to our mailing list to use Career GPS or receive your Career GPS report.

Assessment results

When you use Career GPS, Personal Spec or another diagnostic, we may generate information from your responses, including:

  • career-fit scores and rankings;

  • Ready, Willing and Able scores or indicators;

  • estimated seniority potential;

  • identified gaps, strengths or development areas; and

  • other personalized results generated by the relevant assessment.

Technical information

When you use the website, we may also collect limited technical information such as:

  • IP address;

  • browser and device information;

  • date and time of access;

  • pages visited;

  • referring page or source;

  • campaign or UTM information; and

  • information required for security, fraud prevention and website analytics.

3. How Career GPS uses your information

Career GPS is designed to help you explore two separate questions:

  1. which careers may fit you best; and

  2. what level of seniority your current profile may support within those careers.

When you complete Career GPS, we use your responses to calculate your results and generate your personalized report.

If you provide your email address, we use it to deliver your report and associate it with your assessment results.

Providing an email address for your report does not automatically subscribe you to marketing communications.

Career GPS uses automated scoring based on the answers you provide. This may include algorithmic and/or processing to generate career-fit, seniority-potential and related results.

Career GPS is a career-development and self-reflection tool. Its results are estimates and guidance, not guarantees of career performance, employability, promotion or future seniority. Career GPS does not make employment, recruitment or other similarly significant decisions about you.

4. Why do we process your information?

Depending on the activity, we process personal data for the following purposes and legal bases:

To provide an assessment, diagnostic or requested service

We process the information necessary to provide the tool you have chosen to use, calculate your results and deliver your report.

The legal basis is generally the performance of a service you have requested or steps taken at your request.

To operate, secure and improve our website and tools

We may process limited information to:

  • maintain the website and applications;

  • identify technical problems;

  • prevent spam, fraud and automated abuse;

  • protect our systems or other computing resources;

  • understand how our tools are being used; and

We do not sell your email address, assessment answers, Career GPS results or other personal data.

We do not provide your personal assessment results to employers, recruiters, universities or other organizations for their independent use unless you specifically request or authorize us to do so, or we are legally required to disclose them.

6. Who may process your information?

We may use trusted service providers to operate the website and provide our tools. Depending on the services in use, these may include providers of:

  • website and cloud hosting;

  • database and data storage;

  • email and report delivery;

  • website analytics;

  • security and abuse prevention;

  • newsletter and mailing-list management; and

These providers may process personal data only as necessary to provide their services to us and subject to applicable contractual and data-protection requirements.

We do not permit service providers to use your Career GPS assessment data for their own marketing purposes.

7. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process information outside the European Economic Area.

8. How long do we keep your data?

In particular:

  • Career GPS and other assessment results: We retain identifiable assessment results for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and develop the assessment service, including enabling users to retrieve, retake and, where available, compare assessments over time. We periodically review retained data and may delete or anonymize identifiable assessment data after extended inactivity. Unless a longer period is required or justified by law, identifiable assessment data will normally be deleted or anonymized after five years of inactivity.

  • Anonymized data: We may retain information that has been irreversibly anonymized so that it can no longer reasonably be linked to an individual for research, statistical analysis, validation and improvement of our career tools.

  • Mailing-list information: until you unsubscribe or we otherwise determine it is no longer appropriate to retain it, subject to limited records necessary to respect your opt-out;

  • Other correspondence: for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to and maintain a record of the communication.

We may retain anonymized or aggregated information that no longer identifies you for research, statistical and service-improvement purposes.

Where future functionality allows you to maintain a Career GPS account, we may retain previous assessments so that you can retake the assessment and compare your results over time. We will explain that functionality when it becomes available.

Depending on where you live and the applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal data.

Under the GDPR, these may include the right to:

  • request access to personal data we hold about you;

  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;

  • request deletion of your personal data;

Your decision whether to subscribe does not affect your ability to complete Career GPS or receive your report.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

These measures may include access controls, server-side validation, abuse protection, rate limiting and other security safeguards appropriate to the services we operate.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

12. Children

Our career tools are not designed for children under 18.

If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child in circumstances where parental or other authorization is legally required, we will take appropriate steps to delete or otherwise address that information.
